Strachey, (Giles) Lytton
(1 mar. 1880, Londres, Inglaterra–21 ene. 1932, Ham Spray House, cerca de Hungerford, Berkshire).

Biógrafo y crítico inglés. Después de estudiar en Cambridge se convirtió en el líder del grupo de Bloomsbury. A pesar de ser abiertamente homosexual, fue durante un tiempo pareja de Virginia Woolf. Strachey adoptó una actitud irreverente con el pasado y abrió una nueva era en la escritura biográfica con sus Victorianos ilustres (1918), obra compuesta por cuatro esbozos de ídolos victorianos, a quienes retrató como seres humanos multifacéticos y falibles. Fascinado por la personalidad y las motivaciones humanas, retrató a sus personajes con atención a su particular idiosincrasia y con algo de cinismo. También publicó La reina Victoria (1921), Isabel y Essex (1928), Retratos en miniatura (1931) y algunos textos críticos, en especial sobre literatura francesa.
